DescriptionThe Cardiology Technician performs various non-invasive cardiac procedures, including stress testing, Holter monitor hook-up, ECG's for all age groups. These procedures are performed following established department and Medical Center policy and procedures.
Core Competencies
Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships with the age specific categories.
Provides healthcare services in own job category to the age specific categories.
Demonstrates knowledge of clinical norms for the age specific categories.
Performs all clinical procedures for adult and pediatric patients per Departmental policy.
Recognizes basic cardiac rhythms including EKG changes of acute MI, V TACH, V Fib or heart block and provides intervention as indicated.
Initiates Code Blue and emergency measures when indicated according to BCLS and hospital policy.
Prepares testing area for procedure, including necessary forms, charts, equipment and supplies.
Prepares patient for electrocardiogram and stress testing utilizing proper lead placement and skin preparation.
Adheres to infection control guidelines: uses good handwashing technique, adheres to isolation policy, cleaning equipment between patients.
