Could not agree more about building out a long term profitable business by bootstrapping as long as you can. I've met too many founders that start blowing through money as soon as VC money comes in. Now that money isn't so easily acquired many brands are going under because they never had a profitable business and can't sustain without a constant flow of cash infusions to burn through. #business #bootstrapping #lifelessons #strategy

I couldn’t agree more with the idea that employers still don’t know how to measure work productivity and resort to measuring hours logged vs actual results. I find that backwards- this means a company values you more if it takes you 2 weeks to solve a problem vs 5 minutes. Personally I don’t pay attention to how or when the people around me work- I only care about results. You can fix my problem in 30 seconds? Better for me- I have a skilled, well networked employee. Better for them- they can enjoy their family, golf or whatever more. Results are what matter- time spent to get there is a horrible metric and it’s sad more companies haven’t figured that out. #workefficient #skillsmattermore#remote #letsevolve

Sad to see another chain in trouble."Rubio's Restaurants, the parent company of the Carlsbad-based fast casual restaurant chain, announced it is pursuing bankruptcy with plans to sell the 41-year-old business. Not surprising to me. The cost of everything has skyrocketed. With little funding for new brands far fewer can afford this event. #expowest

The lack of funding in our industry takes down another brand. It’s frightening to think how much of the market will just be “big food”. For new brands- build your roadmap based on bootstrapping.

I’m pretty sure the founders I know could add about 25 things to this list. My add- due diligence, know your industry inside and out. And don’t go into it planning to be the unicorn. Oh- and recognize most investor capital for emerging brands is gone so plan to bootstrap and build your roadmap accordingly (and in pencil).#entrepreneurship #startup #bootstrapping
