mahalo747 | mahalo747 Member 2005-Mar-3 3:03 pm New DVR RemoteI've read a couple references to a new DVR remote available through Insight. I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone has info on the remotes. Some questions: Is it available in Lexington? Can current customers trade in an old remote for a new one? Is it free to current customers? Is it better or worse than the old one. Thanks, |

RacenutBG | RacenutBG Member 2005-Mar-3 4:34 pm I cant answer where its available other than Bowling Green KY. I went down to the office and they swapped my old ones for these at no charge. I attached a pic of it. You can make up your own mind. Click the thumbnail and expand pic to see the detail |

IGGY9 | IGGY9 to RacenutBG Premium Member 2005-Mar-3 6:06 pm Well it would be nice if they somehow clued customers in - when they have new products available. I shouldn't have to call my local office every couple of months to find out. With that said. Looks as if I'll be making a call to see if I can get this newer model. |

| robbyg627 Premium Member 2005-Mar-3 7:02 pm New product? It is a remote control. The old remotes work just as good. Insight can't call every customer every time there is a small change such as this. |

IGGY9 | IGGY9 Premium Member 2005-Mar-3 7:10 pm I'm not going to argue ( oh who am I kidding - yes I am ). We see things differently. It's a new remote - well I'd personally would like to know it's available. Is a simple note in a bill that hard of a task? Is it wrong for me to want to know what options or products ( yes a remote is a product ) are available to me for my money? Maybe you don't like informed consumers. That is your prerogative. And on a bigger scale - it's always like pulling teeth to learn of anything new. If it wasn't for this forum. Many of us would ever know about half the new stuff that is here or on it's way. Wrong day to start with me. If you'd like we can go toe to toe in private - I'd love to!! Unfortunately we'd have to do that on another site. As I'm sure I'll get crap for the last part of this post. I'm supposed to take snide remarks from others without replying to them. Makes no sense - but those seem to be the rules. Instead of making an issue of me wanting to know I have a choice of remote. Why not ask someone on your end - why the I Guide has ghost. That is more helpful - than giving me crap for wanting to know about the remote. |

buckhorn1016 | buckhorn1016 to robbyg627 Member 2005-Mar-3 8:13 pm Good point. If Insight where to tell everyone that a new remote was available, well guess what, everyone would want one. Maybe the old remotes were discontinued, who knows. Fact of the matter is that a remote changes the TV channel, plain and simple. Whether it is the old version or the new one. Do you ask for a new car every year a new model comes out. I think not. I can't see any company spending thousands of dollars to make sure each and every customer gets a new remote, when the old ones are just fine. I guess technology has made us all lazy. Come on people, lets talk about real issues. |

| robbyg627 to IGGY9 Premium Member 2005-Mar-3 8:26 pm "Wrong day to start with me. If you'd like we can go toe to toe in private - I'd love to!!" Seems rather pointless since I am obviously not the only one that feels this way. Insight isn't the only company that does this sort of thing. I guess I just live in the real world where this type of thing happens everywhere and there is nothing I can do to change it. I still say that if I was as unhappy with Insight as you seem to be I would find a new provider. You should know by now that no matter how pissed you get about it nothing is going to change. Why bother with the small stuff ? |

| klownin to IGGY9 Anon 2005-Mar-3 9:16 pm See its people like you that just blow everything out of proportion! First, insight will not start giving out remotes until all of the old remotes are used up, most likely you just happen to stumble upon one or complained until you had gotten from the local office....... |

mahalo747 | mahalo747 Member 2005-Mar-4 9:42 am I called my local Insight office... they said to bring in my old remotes and they would do a swap. The whole process took like three minutes and now I have two nice new clean remotes. There was no charge for the swap. Why can't everyone be thankful that we have this message board to use for exchanging info? I just asked about the new remotes... no one died, or got hurt. It's just cable... take some more Zoloft and RELAX! (And, don't bash Kentucky! I like living here.) Andrew |

| robbyg627 Premium Member 2005-Mar-6 11:51 am The new remote sucks imo. We have been giving them out on new installs for a while now and I would say that Motorola or whoever made the new remotes just wasn't thinking. If you look at the instructions there is a section on volume control. Press tv then hold setup until the tv button flashes twice then hit 993 then volume down. I am pretty sure that is the right way to unlock the tv volume. there is also a global unlock. |

| Employee80 to mahalo747 Anon 2005-Mar-6 12:16 pm Comcast has been using these remotes for over a year. I used to use them on installs. They're OK, but I prefer the old...old remotes, they could handle 4 devices, whereas this can only handle three. |

IGGY9 | IGGY9 to robbyg627 Premium Member 2005-Mar-26 2:21 pm Your really funny sometimes you know it. It's funny how every time the company brings out a new product or service. All the technicians and installers say it's crap. With that said. Once again Insight needs to train it's phone staff better. Because we were told this remote wasn't available when we called to inquire about it. Which is interesting to me. Since someone from the Springfield office has posted in this thread above. Stating that these remotes do exist. Considering they have clearly stated these are being given on new installs. Once again one hand has no clue what the other is doing at Insight. Funny how we just called again now. And the story changes. Now it's - they have a limited amount and be out. And you wonder why Insight has pissed off customers all the time. How friggin hard is it to know the products and services your company sells? This is as bad as the moron in St. Louis who had no clue Harvey's was owned by Harrahs. Even though there are ads for Harveys all over the Harrahs property he works at. But since he broke Missouri gaming laws - I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I think a few to many people have watched the movie Clueless. |

| habu187 to mahalo747 Member 2005-Mar-29 7:36 pm As a tech in Louisville, the main difference I've noticed is that the new remote is designed with the focus on VOD. It's all pretty and silver to match the DVR box.... |
