Like many things in various industries, there are outdated methods of operation and processes that can be improved.‘Abnormal load’ movements, be it mobile crane or trailers laden with cargo are treated individually (in catagory), when best practice would be to focus on the roads/routes and have them LIVE cleared to accept particular weights (gross/axle etc) for considered configurations and other dimensions.With AI and advancement of systems, there should be an instant foolproof process that KEEPS UK Industury Moving, while maintaining safety on the network.For example, our Business Unit has had 1000te cranes and support vehicles to Tilbury, Hartlepool, Ellesemere and Immingham in excess of 30 occasions since October 2023. What merit is there in having a 5 day notification period for a well throdden path. An all encompassing LIVE system could be engaged with, by our traffic teams before any mobilisation. Why does it take 5 days in any event (for routes/sites that have been checked/cleared and hold a precedent for same).You can accept that no one likes change, but the cycle of inefficiency and assosiated time and monetary cost to business and industry, is not acceptable. Futermore, there are little open access for those with forethought and vigor to help with systematic change. Another hierarchical system with Industury remonstrating primarily involving letter writing.
