Dear Michael,It's encouraging to see the integration of Geospatial Engineering & Geospatial Intelligence into strategic discussions with the Greywolf Brigade. The impact that hashtag#geoint can have on enhancing our warfighting capabilities is immense, from providing critical insight into terrain and environmental factors, to aiding in more precise targeting and operational planning.GEOINT has revolutionized the way we approach defense strategy, offering an unprecedented level of situational awareness and decision-making support. This is particularly relevant given the ever-evolving nature of modern warfare, where the need for accurate, real-time intelligence is paramount. The opportunity for these Lieutenants and Senior Leaders to understand and leverage the capabilities of GEOINT is an essential step towards enhancing our overall readiness and effectiveness in the field.Kudos for leading this crucial conversation and bridging the gap between advanced technology and its tactical application in our defense systems. I'm eager to see how these discussions shape our strategies moving forward. #firstteam #geoint #geospatialintelligence #geospatial #engineering

The specific numbers may differ but the reasons are the same. We’ve run surveys like this for at least my three decades of services. They are an echo of each other time and again. Perhaps this time it’ll sink in. Some things for current leaders to consider:1. Your junior officers are humans. Treat them humanely and take a genuine interest in their well being.2. Stop trying to make them happy. Their happiness is not your problem. That’s their personal thing. Instead, focus on ensuring a constructive work environment where their contributions are acknowledged, their efforts appreciated, and their value to the organization espoused every single day. It won’t make them happy but it will contribute to their job satisfaction and at least not detract from their ability to pursue their happiness. 3. Take a risk and afford them autonomy to express or gain mastery while ensuring you do your marquis best to ensure they understand their purpose. Align those three things and you have a better than even chance of hitting a home run.4. Stop trying to retain them and instead focus on developing them as viable long term contributors to national security, not just national defense. That means it’s ok for them to leave. Many will stay.

20+ days, 55 engineers, countless issues and just as many solutions. I had the amazing opportunity to lead B Company 236th BEB through XCTC 2023. These national guardsmen completed realistic combat training in the swamps of Fort Stewart Georgia and learned invaluable lessons along the way. Engineers solve the hardest problems in industry just like these sappers solve some of the hardest problems in the modern battlefield. Getting the opportunity to be and lead both opens your eyes to a few simple truths. 1)Dedication is key to solving problems but you also need knowledge. 2) Somethings are worth reviewing just one more time. 3) Flexible plans help to fill in the gaps you can't see until it is too late.Ask the National Guardsmen or Army Reservist at your job what they did during annual training this year.#army #nationalguard #northcarolina #engineer

A brisk morning around the QCA! Maybe a White Christmas? 🥶The prevention of Cold Weather Injuries is vital to sustain the health of our Soldiers and Civilians, and the readiness of our #Army. CWIs occur when there is an imbalance of body temperature regulation, or where heat loss is greater than heat production in an area of the body (or the body core). Military writers often overcapitalize. It's not all our fault. The military tries to convince us that capitalizing certain words, like "Army" and "Soldier," signals respect or importance. But it doesn't--it just makes things awkward when we write for non-military people. Here are some tips for avoiding common errors:Do not capitalize initialisms...the joint planning process (JPP), multidomain operations (MDO), commanding general (CG)...except for proper nounsthe Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)Do not capitalize ranks and titles...the division commander, the colonel, the sergeant major...unless they precede a nameColonel Smith, Sergeant Major JonesDo not capitalize units...the company, the corps, the squadron...unless it's a unit nameA Company, III Corps, 1st SquadronFinally, do not capitalize a word to make it seem important.
