Ever experience that moment of panic when you look up at the clock, and suddenly realize you should’ve started dinner 30 minutes ago?

Please, tell me it’s not just me!

Little Caesar’s $5 hot and ready pizzas have saved me on more than one occasion.

Still, nothing against LC, but I don’t really like their pizza all that much.

I will happily munch on the homemade side salad while my kids contently enjoy their pizza.

That said, I could never go to one of their joints and not leave without a bag of the good stuff.

Their warm, buttery Parmesan crusted crazy bread to be exact.

Pretty sure it’s safe to say that the crazy bread’s always the star of their show.

Soft and slightly chewy, brushed with garlic butter and sprinkled with a heavy-handed amount of Parmesan cheese.

They’re pretty much the best version of a bread stick. Arguably, ever.

I’ve never been good at the whole delayed gratification thing, and even though the closest Little Caesar’s to us is only about 10 miles away, when a craving hits that’s just too far.

And that’s one of the reasons I love this make-at-home copycat version so much.

Is This The Same As Making Little Caesar’s Breadsticks From Scratch?

Let me stop you right there!

If this is anything like my copycat Arby’s Beef N Cheddar recipe, there’s going to be an immediate influx of comments telling me how it’s not ‘authentic’.

I know it’s not authentic, but that’s the point with my copycat recipe.

The convenience of home baking, without all the extra work- and without a trip to the store.

So no- this isn’t the exact same as Little Caesar’s crazy bread, but it tastes darn close.

Ingredients Needed

A large part of my at home, copycat endeavor is to get the same flavor, again with minimal effort.

I’m truly a lazy cook at heart. Don’t tell that to my appetite or taste buds though!

So this at home version is all about convenience.

  • refrigerated pizza dough– one can, or you can use one batch of our easy homemade pizza dough
  • butter– melted
  • garlic salt
  • Parmesan cheese– use the grated kind, the green can

That’s it.

Just four simple ingredients stand between you and a batch of rich, buttery homemade crazy bread!

How To Make

If you’ve been shying away from making breadsticks at home because homemade bread sounds complicated- then this is 100 % the recipe for you.

Using the convenience of store bought pizza dough means there’s no yeast to proof, long waits during rise times, or even trouble shooting where you went wrong.

Simply take a can of homemade pizza dough, which is usually found near the refrigerated biscuit dough, and roll it out onto a clean, flat surface.

The canned dough should automatically roll out into a rectangle.

If you opt for homemade pizza dough, or even a traditional store bought dough ball, you’ll need to roll it out with a rolling pin into a roughly rectangular shape.

It doesn’t have to be perfect though!

Using a sharp pizza cutter, carefully slice the dough evenly in half length wise.

Cut 8 vertical strips in the dough, to create 16 small breadsticks.

Transfer each piece of dough to a lightly greased baking sheet.

They will puff as they bake, so make sure they aren’t sitting directly on top of each other.

Bake the bread sticks at 450 degrees for 6-8 minutes, or until they’re slightly puffed and just barely golden brown.

While the breadsticks are baking, prepare the garlic butter.

Melt the butter, and then stir in the garlic salt until evenly combined.

Remove the baked breadsticks from the oven, and while still hot brush the garlic butter evenly out over top of them all.

Don’t be sparing with it. You can even do a second coating.

You want all the garlic butter slathered on those delicious dough sticks.

Sprinkle the buttered breadsticks evenly with the Parmesan cheese.

Serve them warm with a small bowl of chilled marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
